i’m at my third year of a four year program, so just about ¾ of the way there :D i’m doing my medicine rotation as of now and i really love it tbh! surgery was waaaay to intense for me, though in all fairness that was last term where i didn’t have any experience at the acute setting whatsoever. i’ve also done some community nursing for geriatrics and maternity for the most part of second year, and next year i go to palliative and mental health! peds is really good if you’re willing to tough it out emotionally. it’s always difficult caring for children who are sick; had to go through like an hour of that for restoration where my patient was a 12 year old kid who just had his third spinal surgery in the last five or so years–it was tough. good for you to want to be in ER! not everybody’s cut out for high stress situations (i know i’m not) so if you are awesome sauce! in the hospital i’m doing my medicine rotation on, we have some cardiac patients sprinkled here and there, and i haven’t taken care of them yet, so i’m hoping i get to soon enough. there’s a lot of telemetry for cardiac tho, so both of us have to polish our ecg reading skills for sure. XD
